“Record Day” was started with the desire to share the appeal of vinyl records with as many people as possible. Now in its 11th year, it’s one of Japan’s largest vinyl record events. This year, for the first time in three years, it will be held over two days. Day 1 will be held on Saturday, November 1st, the first day of a three-day weekend, and Day 2 will be held on Saturday, December 6th. We’re pleased to welcome Kinichi Motegi of FISHMANS as a special supporter to liven up this year’s event! Mr. Mogi is supervising the FISHMANS 8-disc 7-inch single box set, which will be released on December 6th. The
limited-edition bonus 7-inch single “Chance/Nantattano” was produced at Toyo Kasei’s pressing plant. The production process and his own memories of records will be featured in an interview (interviewed by Ken Miyauchi) in the Record Day Official Guidebook, which will be distributed in record stores nationwide from October. In 1987, while attending Meiji Gakuin University, he formed Fishmans with Shinji Sato and Kensuke Kojima. He played drums and made his major debut in 1991 with the album “Hikouki.” The band has garnered acclaim for its unique worldview, incorporating elements of reggae, dub, electronica, rocksteady, funk, and hip-hop. Following the sudden death of vocalist Sato in 1999, the band was forced to suspend activities, but resumed activities in 2005 with the addition of a guest vocalist. Since then, the band has performed live shows on an irregular basis. In 2021, the documentary film “Fishmans: The Movie” was released to mark the 30th anniversary of Fishmans’ debut. Since 2001, he has also been active as the drummer for Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra.
