He performed with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra at age 12 and made his solo debut at Carnegie Hall in New York while still in high school. While attending Harvard University, he frequently performed with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and later based his career in the United States. He has performed with his own quartet at venues such as Lincoln Center and MoMA, and has also performed with Ichiro Nodaira at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. His album with Gil Shaham, recorded as The Knights, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2022.
