Oka Midori Profile She began singing folk songs at a young age and has won many awards, earning her the nickname “folk song genius.” In 1996, at the age of 11, she became the youngest winner in history of the Hyogo Prefecture Japanese Folk Song Festival Masters Tournament. In 2003, at the age of 18, she made her debut in the entertainment industry as an idol. In 2005, at the age of 20, she made her debut as an enka singer. In 2017, her song “Sado no Yuubue” became a huge hit, leading to her debut appearance at the 68th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, and she has appeared there for three consecutive years since. In 2021, she became the MC for her first terrestrial TV program, being selected for NHK General TV’s “BS Concierge.” In 2022, she became the first person to appear on Fuji TV’s “Chidori no Oni Renchan” for 10 consecutive appearances, creating a buzz. In 2023, she was selected as a regular on MBS’s “Yonchan TV” on Fridays. In 2025, she was selected as a regular on KTV’s “Shunkan LIVE Toretate!” In January of the same year, she made her first lead role on stage in Mitsukoshi Theater’s “Ochika Funtouki.” In March, she performed as the lead troupe for the first time at the Shin Kabukiza Theater.
