Experience the world of ancient Egypt in an immersive space that surpasses that of an art gallery or museum. More than 100 years have passed since archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Research and excavations into ancient Egyptian civilization continue, with new discoveries continuing to be made. This immersive exhibition, supervised by Egyptian archaeologist Yukinori Kawae, delves into the mysteries of Tutankhamun, one of the world’s most famous kings. Akhenaten and his family, who forcibly reformed the religion from polytheism to monotheism, were long erased from history. As a result, his son, King Tutankhamun, remains shrouded in mystery. Using analog and digital technologies, we’ll deliver an immersive, extraordinary experience, featuring over 130 super replicas (of which only three exist in the world), a perfectly recreated tomb of Tutankhamun, immersive projections, and CG 3D scans of the actual golden mask and throne. The golden mask and coffin discovered in Tutankhamun’s tomb over 100 years ago are now closely guarded treasures. The only way to see the real thing is to hop on a plane and go to Egypt. This exhibition offers many ways to transport you to Egypt, Luxor, ancient times, and right in front of the golden relics, all without leaving Japan. 1. Capturing data from
Tutankhamun’s real relics The WORLD SCAN PROJECT actually visited the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, photographed many of Tutankhamun’s relics for photogrammetry, and then created them in 3D. Please note the detailed texture of this “3D digital clone,” a scan of the original. 2. A Perfectly Recreated Burial Chamber KV62 (Tomb 62 in the Valley of the Kings), discovered in Luxor, is a realistic reproduction of the burial chamber of Tutankhamun’s royal tomb, achieved through the craftsmanship of Japanese film art. The original exhibit at the Kadokawa Musashino Museum, where supervising professor Kawae exclaimed, “Wow, this looks just like the real thing!”, has been relocated to Yokohama. The building’s appearance, size, murals, burial goods, and even the mold growth have been realistically reproduced, all of which can only be experienced by visiting Luxor. 3. “Super Replicas” Crafted to Be As Close to the Real Thing as Possible More than 130 life-size replicas are on display in the exhibition hall. What’s more, instead of viewing them through glass like in a museum, you can get up close and examine the details. The 3,300-year-old treasures were recreated by professional engravers and sculptors, led by Professor Mustafa Mahmoud El-Ezzabi of the Department of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts, Miniature University in Egypt. There are only three replicas in the world, and we are pleased to present the most recent and exquisite set. 4. Music and Video A variety of content is available to further enhance the experience of the world of
Tutankhamun. We offer a immersive, extraordinary experience through a variety of approaches, including an explanatory video theater by Professor Kawae, an immersive projection video that immerses you in Tutankhamun’s life, and theme music written specifically for the exhibition. Please come and experience “Mystery of Tutankhamun,” an entertainment space where you can learn and feel.
