This Reiwa-era Japanese hero drama follows a salaryman who gets fired from his job and has his life ruined, becoming a “little psychic” to save the world. The protagonist, Bunta, is played by Yo Oizumi. Next in line is “If This World Were a Stage, Where Would the Dressing Room Be?” A coming-of-age ensemble drama starring Masaki Suda and featuring a stellar cast including Fumi Nikaido, Ryunosuke Kamiki, and Minami Hamabe. The screenplay is by the legendary hitmaker Koki Mitani. Set in the hopeful and passionate Shibuya of 1984, this hilarious and moving story depicts the smoldering passion, anguish, and love of young people. Third place goes to the TV drama series “Bakebake.” This story is based on a couple who loved ghost stories and shed light on the emotional stories of nameless people who had been buried amid the rapid Westernization of Meiji-era Japan, and who acted as spokespeople for them. Takaishi Akari plays Koizumi Setsu, the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue, and Tommy Bastow plays her foreign husband, Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo).
