A special collection exhibition by Shinichiro Minagawa, founder of B’s ​​International, titled “Collecting Habits,” will be held at calif art gallery, a gallery space operated by our company, from Friday, October 3, 2025. From Shinichiro Minagawa: In preparation for the event In 1986, I traveled alone to the United States for the first time. I still vividly remember making the decision at that time to “work while traveling back and forth between Japan and the United States.” As an extension of that desire, I spent a working holiday in Vancouver, Canada in 1988, and founded B’s International the year after returning to Japan. Nearly 39 years have passed since then. The company has grown with the support of many people, and I now spend my days as chairman, slightly removed from management. I don’t have a habit of going out at night, and I don’t have any extravagant hobbies. But one thing hasn’t changed: my habit of thoroughly searching for and collecting things that catch my eye. Before I knew it, the items I found at flea markets and auctions filled my home. My collection so far has included corporate novelties from the 1960s and 1970s, Olympic merchandise from the 1960s and 1980s, World Cup-related items from the 1980s and 2000s, Buddy Lee dolls, vintage Adidas sneakers and novelties, Snoopy and Disney characters from the 1970s, Native American silver jewelry and rugs, Pendleton blankets, Japanese rags, and, in recent years, contemporary art. The genres and eras are all over the place, but they’re a collection of things I found interesting and wanted. Whenever I went to Los Angeles on a business trip, I wouldn’t return home immediately after work. Instead, I would go treasure hunting at the ROSE BOWL and LONG BEACH flea markets on Sundays, then fly back home on Monday. I’ve found countless things there. Last year, I turned 60. While I’m not planning for the end of my life, I’ve come to think that it’s time to pass on the items I’ve collected and loved to the next owner. This exhibition is the place for that. I hope that my collection will bring new joy to someone and be passed on to the next generation. I’ll be at the venue all day on the first day, October 3rd. In addition, on October 4th and 5th, I’ll be holding a “garage sale-style collection sale” at my home, a five-minute walk from the venue.
