HARVEST PARK in 2024. Photo by Makino Hiroshi This year marks the third time HARVEST PARK has been held, following events in 2023 and 2024. The event will center around a live performance by musicians, as well as talk sessions, food trucks, environmental booths, and merchandise booths. There will also be a wide range of events for children, including workshops. We aim to create a park where people of all ages can enjoy themselves all day long, free of charge, while enjoying the air and scenery of the satoyama forest surrounded by beautiful nature. The event is organized by Caravan, a
singer-songwriter living in Chigasaki City, and Caravan, a company that operates a no-till farming business in Chigasaki City. The HARVEST PARK Executive Committee, centered around Hachiichi Farm, will be carrying out the planning and running of the event once again this year with the help of many local volunteers.

HARVEST PARK is an event that anyone can enjoy, but it’s not a typical music festival. At its core, the organizers’ desire is to “shed light” on the serious illegal dumping problem in the beautiful rural landscape of Chigasaki’s Satoyama area. Hachiichi Farm, a farm located right next to Chigasaki Satoyama Park, and singer-songwriter Caravan, who used to grow rice together, witnessed this problem and began a monthly Satoyama cleanup (trash collection) activity in June 2023, which has continued ever since. An extension of this activity is HARVEST PARK, a public space that anyone can enjoy once a year. Since 2023, the event has been held annually on Culture Day, November 3rd, with the hope that many people will visit the satoyama area, enjoy local cultures such as music, food, and agriculture, and discover beautiful scenery, thereby reducing waste even a little. To embody this goal, as an environmental measure, the entire live and talk stage uses solar-powered electricity, and reusable tableware has been introduced for food and drink to reduce waste. There will be no trash cans at the venue; attendees are encouraged to take their food home with them.

The collection rate for reusable tableware (plates and bowls) was 96.0%. Photo by Hiroshi Makino We will be conducting clean-up activities during and after the event. Despite recording approximately 15,000 visitors for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024, there was almost no trash around the venue. We would like to express our sincere gratitude and respect for the good manners of all visitors, and we will continue to strive for a clean event this year as well. “HARVEST PARK 2025” Content Created Together with the Community “HARVEST PARK 2025” will be held for the third year in a row. This year marks the third HARVEST PARK, and we hope to continue it for at least 10 years. This is because by continuing this project, we hope to learn about the current global issues, such as environmental and waste problems, and to establish HARVEST PARK’s approach of creating the future together as a part of the local culture, passing it on to the next generation. At our monthly Satoyama cleanups, we witness the unchanging situation of illegal dumping, but we are confident that the future will definitely change thanks to the children who participate with us. Also, since last year, we have been keeping some of our own reusable tableware and providing it to food and beverage vendors, and this decision was made with the determination to continue this practice. Going forward, we will continue to promote not only the glamorous aspects of the event, but also our down-to-earth approach to conveying the message of HARVEST PARK’s beliefs and clean-up activities. In 10 years, we hope to pass the baton to the next generation, see these events and activities take root and take root in the local community, and pass on the beautiful satoyama environment to future generations. Please look forward to the third HARVEST PARK on November 3, 2025.
