The goal is to transform nursing homes from “places visited only when necessary” to “familiar spaces where people can drop in on a daily basis.” This initiative, part of the “City University Student Challenge Project,” involves students from Hiroshima City University. The project was inspired by staff members’ desire to “close the gap between the community and the nursing facility,” as well as a social awareness of the need to connect community revitalization, education, and welfare. Sustainability was also taken into consideration when designing the mural, with paint that would have been discarded being reused. Leveraging his experience in numerous local production projects, branding, and crowdfunding support, Kajikawa provided comprehensive production support for this project, from strategic design to fundraising page composition and writing, promotional strategy, social media utilization, reward planning, and team coordination. Crowdfunding is scheduled to begin in October 2025 and conclude at the end of November, with work on the mural to begin in January 2026. Upon completion, a unveiling event will be held inviting local residents, and the courtyard space is expected to be open to the public as a social space. This project centers on the Akashia Taiga nursing home (Facility Director Mita) and the Akaichi Project, a student team from Hiroshima City University’s Faculty of Arts. It also involves a diverse group of members, including local shopping districts, local artists, disability welfare providers, and medical, nursing, and education professionals. Kajikawa is at the center of this effort, guiding the project to success. First Innovation will continue to support the resolution of social issues and the creation of value through collaboration with local
communities, educational institutions, and welfare facilities, contributing to the creation of a sustainable future.
