Connecting Hokusai x Japanese Culture Exchange Workshop The Japan Wakuwaku Kids Executive Committee, a nonprofit organization
(headquarters: Ryogoku, Sumida-ku, Tokyo; Chairperson: Yumiko Makino), will be holding the “Connecting Hokusai x Japanese Culture Exchange Workshop” at the Sumida Hokusai Museum on Sunday, October 12, 2025. This special program at the Sumida Hokusai Museum allows visitors to experience traditional Japanese culture and enjoy it with people of all ages. This event will provide an opportunity to experience Japanese culture up close, with activities such as a shuriken experience, creative workshops, and the chance to dress up in traditional Japanese clothing and take photos in front of a panel of Katsushika Hokusai’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji: Under the Great Wave off Kanagawa.” *Preschool children will not be provided with kimonos, so they can be photographed holding folding fans or similar items. Using free-flowing design ideas, participants will create original goods such as badges and eco-bags, creating a space where they can enjoy Sumida’s traditional culture and interact with each other.

Montessori education is an educational method that fosters children’s ability to grow through self-selection, concentration, and learning. Adults are not there to teach, but to help create an environment that creates a supportive environment. Japan Waku Waku Kids strives to create a space where the entire community can support child-rearing and foster an environment where parents and children can learn and grow together while having fun. This workshop, which will be held on this stage, is a new challenge to connect the region, parents, children, and culture of Sumida Ward, which combines its history as the birthplace of Edo-era culture with its modernity as a manufacturing district. As a museum that continues to grow and disseminates information about Hokusai to the local community and the world, it is also a place where parents and children can make new discoveries. ■Connecting Hokusai and Japanese Culture Exchange Workshop Date: Sunday, October 12, 2025 Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Sumida Hokusai Museum (2-7-2 Kamezawa, Sumida-ku, Tokyo) Nearest Station 5-minute walk from Exit A3 of Ryogoku Station on the Toei Oedo Line 9-minute walk from the East Exit of Ryogoku Station on the JR Sobu Line 5-minute walk from Toei Ryogoku Station on the Toei Bus Line Very close to the Sumida Hokusai Museum (Tsugaru Family Residence Site) bus stop on the Sumida Ward Loop Bus *There is no parking at the museum. ■Organization overview
