Overview: “Take a break from being human and become a jellyfish.” The Jellyfish Sports Festival is a sports event where participants don specially designed “jellyfish hats,” forget their human identities for a moment, and enjoy the feeling of being a jellyfish. The events are “Jellyfish Wave” and “Jellyfish Soccer.” While the specific content and rules will be revealed on the day, both are inclusive sports that can be played while seated. “Jellyfish Sports” are safe and easy for anyone to participate in, regardless of age, gender, physical strength, or athletic experience. In the autumn of sports, why not try a new game at the Expo that will release both your mind and body? How to participate: Advance reservations are not required. However, please note that the number of participants is limited. What are the “jellyfish” in the “Playground of Life: Jellyfish Museum”?

The Osaka-Kansai Expo theme project, “Enhancing Life,” sees jellyfish as “a symbol of the creativity and life that resides within us all, and of the sometimes inexplicable and ‘unsettling play.'” A tree of creativity stands in the center of the Jellyfish Pavilion, the project’s signature pavilion. The Jellyfish Pavilion is home to the exciting world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, etc.), a creative, practical, and cross-disciplinary approach to learning that embodies the lives of scientists, artists, and inventors. It is also packed with activities that stimulate the five senses, and through playfulness, we aim to foster a sense of wanting to take a step forward, and to foster the confidence and joy of knowing that you too can orchestrate pieces of your own future through this unsettling play.
