Program Overview Masahiro Matsuoka, known for his love of alcohol, has returned to his hometown of Sapporo! In search of delicious sake and tasty snacks that are unique to Hokkaido, Matsuoka wanders his hometown of Sapporo at his leisure. From deep bars to famous restaurants beloved by locals… This Hokkaido-themed “drinking variety show” will be broadcast for four consecutive weeks, showcasing Matsuoka’s true, tipsy city walks, as if the camera had entered his private life! The first episode is set in the Kotoni & Hachiken area of Sapporo, where Matsuoka was born and raised. The starting point is Kotoni Shrine. “When I start something new, For Matsuoka, this is a place full of childhood memories. He begins laughing as he recounts how he once cried while participating in the traditional “Children’s Procession.” Furthermore, on his way down the main street from Kotoni to Hachiken, he stopped at a long-established tea shop that has been a local favorite for over 50 years. Why did Matsuoka stop by this shop? And for this drink and snack, we went to a small restaurant in the Hachiken area. In fact, this restaurant is right in front of the obstetrics and gynecology clinic where Matsuoka was born! Feeling a strange connection, I entered the restaurant to find that there were already regular customers there! Matsuoka’s appearance surprised the local customers, who toasted! Enjoy dishes packed with seasonal Hokkaido ingredients, including chawanmushi (steamed custard) topped with plenty of Hokkaido seafood and hairy crab. With a drink in hand, what will Matsuoka have to say…? This time, we’ll be exploring the Kotoni/Hachiken area, relying on Matsuoka’s memories. On the way, he’ll remember the lessons he took as a child and the places he used to play… Before I knew it, I was exploring Masahiro Matsuoka’s roots. Would you like to have some “evening drinks” together while watching TV…?
