I sang this song imagining Hinako with a faint smile on her face, so I hope you can feel that gentle atmosphere, along with the transience and complexity that it contains. ■Comment from Kitazawa Yuho (Lyrics and Music) I wrote the lyrics and music with the strong desire to express, and felt the need to express, the feelings that Hinako is carrying. The energy of Hinako’s wish to “die” wasn’t “big” or “intense,” but rather “depth” and “tranquility.” I hope you can feel that depth through Lily. May the day come when, in the midst of days when all you can do is walk, you will notice the wind rustling the flowers. ■Comment from Atsushi Sato (Arranger) Kitazawa’s melody and lyrics conveyed Hinako’s struggle with life and her kindness toward her past self. Hinako’s life is packed into this song, and I began arranging it with the desire to translate that into music within Watatabe’s worldview. I completely changed the arrangement for the verse, “Since that day it changed,” and I paid particular attention to the warmth of the words and sound. We wanted to fully utilize the fragility of Ueda’s singing voice, so we included a lot of chorus material, resulting in a song that conveys both coldness and warmth.
