Held on Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th! The Tama Lantern Festival 2025, illuminating the autumn nights of Tama New Town in Tama City, Tokyo, will be held from Saturday, October 11th to Sunday, October 12th. This is a large-scale night market-style event where colorful Vietnamese lanterns are lit up throughout the venue, bathing the entire city in a mystical glow.

Lantern Festival Flyer Starting with 1,000 people in 2019, this festival grew to 32,000 visitors last year. This year marks its seventh anniversary. This year’s theme is “A gentle relationship where individuals and the space resonate,” and we’ll be introducing new initiatives that encourage participants to not just watch, but to help create the festival together. We aim to create a citizen-participation festival that will make even first-time visitors want to come back and get more involved. We hope that the nightlife of Tama New Town will be a setting for people to meet, connect, and spread the charm of the region. This event is organized by the Tama Lantern Festival 2025 Organizing Committee (JS Nippon Sogo Jyutaku Co., Ltd., New
Machizukurisha General Incorporated Association, and Keio
Corporation), supported by Tama City, sponsored by UR Community Minami Tama Housing Center Co., Ltd. and New Urban Center Development Co., Ltd., with special cooperation from Vietnam Airlines. For this event, 200 lanterns will be displayed at “J Smile Tama Hakkakudo,” creating a fantastical illumination. Toyogaoka Kaitori Shopping Street will be decorated with “Tama’s New Lanterns.” The main event, held on Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th, will be a “Lantern Parade,” where local artists and children will parade around the venue in glowing costumes made by hand, accompanied by a lantern band. Other events include “New Yoichi,” an Asian-style night market featuring secondhand clothing, accessories, and artwork by local creators; “Rojo Shobo,” a workshop where you can write your own story or read someone else’s; and “Tama New Town Mini Walk,” where you can experience life in Tama New Town by touring the streets.
