craftsmanship for 120 years. In this project, by combining its manufacturing approach with the creativity of contemporary artists, the company aims to bring small discoveries and encounters with aesthetic sensibilities to everyday life. The first commemorative project features Saki Maeda, an artist from Fukui Prefecture, where Masunaga Eyewear was founded. Starting Tuesday, November 11th, her work will be exhibited at the MASUNAGA1905 Aoyama store, and limited-edition collaboration celitas will be distributed at directly managed stores nationwide. In addition, to commemorate the launch of the project and its 120th anniversary, a special exhibition, “MASUNAGA1905: Timeless Vision,” will be held for three days only at the art space WALL_alternative in Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo. This exhibition will showcase over 10 archive frames dating back to the company’s founding in 1905, as well as new works from “Edition 120,” created to mark the 120th anniversary of the company’s founding. There will also be an exhibition of new works by Saki Maeda, and a bar counter offering Fukui Prefecture specialties and natural wines from the Hokuriku region. CONCEPT MESSAGE MASUNAGA1905 meets ARTISTS From the origin of “making good things” to a new scene in the world. For 120 years, Masunaga Optical has maintained its belief in “making good glasses” and its pursuit of technology that meets the needs of the times. Now, after 120 years, we are encountering the sensibilities of contemporary artists and creating new everyday landscapes. The art project “MASUNAGA1905 meets ARTISTS” is a journey to new scenes around the world, starting in Aoyama. Small expressions such as exhibiting works at a celite or in a store can quietly change the landscape in someone’s life. For artists, it’s an opportunity to connect with others through their creations and expressions, and for visitors, it’s an unexpected encounter with aesthetic sensibilities.
