Ichigaya-no-Mori Book and Type Museum (Ichigaya, Tokyo), a cultural facility operated by DNP. Exhibiting 100 types of “leaf” used in books and packaging Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) will hold a special exhibition, “Gather Sparkling! A Profusion of Hundred Leaf Designs,” from Saturday, October 25, 2025 to Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the Ichigaya-no-Mori Book and Type Museum (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo), a cultural facility operated by the company with the theme of letterpress printing and bookmaking.

Main visual of the special exhibition Book bindings, cards, stickers, and product packaging often use a sparkling material called “foil.” While this “foil” was once made by rolling real gold, it is now produced using processing techniques that incorporate aluminum and pigments, allowing for a wider range of expressions. In addition to gold, there are a wide variety of foils available, including colorful metallic foils, holographic foils with complex sparkles, and pigment foils with unique textures, each with its own unique sparkle to suit different uses and purposes. This special exhibition will display and introduce 100 different types of foil. Even though they’re all the same gold color, you can take a closer look at the different textures and lusters, as well as the variety of holographic foils.
