Salon Japan Co., Ltd. Press Release: October 6, 2025 Salon Films’ Japanese branch, Salon Japan Co., Ltd., begins full-scale distribution and promotion of Hong Kong films. We have acquired the domestic distribution rights for the Hong Kong film “Love Lies” (original title: My Story, My Love / English title: LOVE LIES) from One Cool Pictures Limited. Founded in 1959, Salon Films (H.K.) Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Salon Films) has been supporting international filmmaking from its Hong Kong base for over 65 years. Salon Films is pleased to announce the full-scale launch of its theatrical distribution and promotion business for Hong Kong films through its Japanese subsidiary, Salon Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Andrew Wang; hereinafter, Salon Japan). [Background and purpose] Salon Films has provided equipment and production support for internationally acclaimed films such as “Game of Death” (1978), “In the Mood for Love” (2000), “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” (2000), “Infernal Affairs: Prelude” (2003), “Infernal Affairs III” (2003), and “Mission: Impossible III” (2006). Salon Films has also expanded its business into television commercials, corporate video production, advertising and digital content production, and live streaming, building a wide-ranging business base with bases in China, Malaysia, and Singapore. In Japan, Salon Japan co-distributed Hong Kong films in 2024. Building on this track record, we will now fully expand our distribution and promotion business for Hong Kong films in the Japanese market. 【Future development】 Salon Japan is engaged in the acquisition, distribution, and promotion of Hong Kong films, and works in collaboration with domestic distribution companies and theater professionals to continuously introduce Hong Kong films, thereby contributing to the diversification of the film lineup in the Japanese market and the sustainable development of theater culture. As our first independent distributor, we have acquired the domestic distribution rights from One Cool Pictures Limited for the Hong Kong film “Love Lies,” which was nominated for six categories at the 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards and two categories at the 61st Golden Horse Awards. While this film is a romantic comedy about romance scams, it also explores modern themes such as online fraud and loneliness. In Hong Kong, it has garnered high praise from a wide range of generations as a work that brought a new twist to the “Hong Kong-style romantic comedy” genre. It was also screened at the Aichi International Women’s Film Festival 2025 as an invited international film. Details such as the release date will be announced as they are decided.
