Tamagawa Onsen (Tokigawa Town, Hiki District, Saitama Prefecture) and Chichibu Yumoto Buko Onsen (Yokoze Town, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture), day-trip hot springs and retro Showa-era public baths operated by Onsen Dojo Co., Ltd. (Tokigawa Town, Hiki District, Saitama Prefecture; Representative Director: Toshiki Yamazaki), will be offering “Goemonburo” (a bathhouse with a bathtub), “Children’s Public Bath,” and “Sansuke” (a bathhouse with a bathtub), among other activities, from Friday, October 10th to Monday, October 13th, 2025, to coincide with Public Bath Day on January 10th. Sento Day was established because October 10, 1964 (Showa 39), was the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics. Bathing after sweating through sports is believed to promote good health, and “October 10” sounds like “sentou” (“sentou”). To coincide with Sento Day, we’ll be holding an event where you can enjoy sento culture. ＜Tamagawa Onsen Public Bath Day Event＞ ◎Goemon Bath (Drum Can Bath) Date and Time: Saturday, October 11, 2025, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Location: In front of the entrance Participation Fee: Free (separate museum admission fee required) Items to bring: Swimsuit The firewood used for the Goemon bath is cypress thinnings from Tokigawa Town, where Tamagawa Onsen is located. Tokigawa Town is 70% forested, and forestry is thriving. We hope that by using thinnings, which are essential for forest growth, we can raise awareness of forest conservation.

After learning about bath etiquette, you’ll actually take a bath. Children who stay until the end will receive a certificate of completion and some sweets. We hope this will encourage them to enjoy the hot springs while also observing proper bath etiquette.
