Pony Canyon Inc. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Kazunari Okuma) has been promoting Yamagata City, Gifu Prefecture (Mayor: Hiromasa Hayashi) in collaboration with Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank, Ltd. since fiscal 2024. As part of this second year of the initiative, the company is promoting various initiatives in Yamagata City. – Pony Canyon Inc. and Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank are collaborating, leveraging each other’s strengths, to undertake a city promotion project for Yamagata City, Gifu Prefecture, starting in fiscal 2024. – The “Yamagata City Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team Appointment Ceremony” was held at Yamagata City Hall on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. – Yu-Ching, a member of the comedy duo “Sugoroku Ningen,” is a unique entertainer who also excels in street performances and impersonations. He spoke passionately about his desire to use these skills to promote Yamagata City, and surprised everyone by showing off Mayor Hayashi’s “cube art” and “rubber glove-breaking” skills. This year, Yamagata City recruited local revitalization supporters to promote the area’s attractions on YouTube and social media. Nagoya Yoshimoto’s Yu-chin (the comedian who plays the funny man in the comedy duo “Sugoroku Ningen”) applied and was selected. At the appointment ceremony held on October 1st, Yu-chin opened by reading a pledge of oath, followed by Mayor Hayashi handing over his appointment. Yu-chin then spoke of his enthusiasm, saying, “I want to use my special skills, such as street performance, to promote Yamagata City,” and surprised everyone by performing a cube art piece depicting Mayor Hayashi’s face. The cube art was made using 400 small “cube-shaped puzzles,” drawing gasps of amazement from attendees and reporters gathered at the ceremony. When asked if he had any special talents he could show off, Yuqing demonstrated his “rubber
glove-breaking” technique, breaking a rubber glove placed over his face in under 10 seconds using only his nose, drawing laughter and applause.

We live in the age of social media, so I would like you to spread the city’s charm and laughter in a way that we can’t.” He expressed his hopes for Yamagata City’s future success. After the appointment ceremony, Yuqing demonstrated his “rubber glove breaking” skills at the executive meeting held at City Hall that day. He then toured each department of City Hall, showing off his signature impersonations and drawing laughter from the staff.
