Sanyo Foods Co., Ltd.’s flagship cup noodle brand, Cupstar, launched “Sapporo Ichiban Cupstar Scallop Salt Flavor” as a new regular Cupstar product on October 6, 2025. In conjunction with this, a new TV commercial, “Cupstar Scallop Salt Appearance,” featuring Nogizaka46 members Sakura Endo, Haruka Kaki, and Kazu Inoue, will begin airing nationwide on Thursday, October 9. Cupstar, launched in 1975, is a long-selling brand of vertically-opened cup noodles currently available in seven flavor variations. The newly released “Sapporo Ichiban Cupstar Scallop Salt Flavor” is a salt ramen with a savory scallop base, a salty soup with a punch of garlic and chili pepper, and topped with scallop-flavored kamaboko and plenty of wakame seaweed, creating an addictive flavor you’ll want to return to. The new TV commercial features Nogizaka46 members Sakura Endo, Haruka Kaki, and Kazu Inoue, all dressed in blue outfits. They’re seen sipping and savoring Sapporo Ichiban Cup Star Scallop Salt Flavor together in front of a giant screen, with impressive displays of wakame seaweed and scallop kamaboko in front of them. Kaki: It’s scallop-flavored kamaboko, but I was surprised at how authentic the texture was. It certainly looks like scallops, but as I ate it, I thought, “Wow, it’s scallops!” The soup has a strong dashi flavor, and the wakame seaweed is delicious and satisfying. But I thought the fact that it’s so light and easy to eat was really appealing. –When do you crave Cup Star? Please tell us about a typical situation. Endo:I really love going for walks, and I can walk until I’m absolutely starving. I usually come home completely starved after walking so much. The Cup Noodles I eat afterwards are so delicious. I always think it’s the best feeling to sip on a Cup Noodle after a short walk and feeling tired. — This time, Cupstar is trying out a new flavor (salted scallop). Please tell us what you three would like to try together. Inoue: Both Haruka and I love drawing. That’s why the lids of those Cup Star drinks are sometimes designed with Nogizaka members.
