Kyoto Seika University Press release: October 10, 2025 To Members of the Press [Kyoto Seika University] Tote bags and pouches created by students from the Faculty of Design are on sale at Kyoto Takashimaya Shopping Center. Visual Design Department “MOYO Project 2025” x “I Love Kyoto!” Collaboration Project Kyoto Seika University (Location: Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City; President: Masato Sawada), Faculty of Design, Department of Visual Design, “MOYO Project 2025,” is collaborating with “Sukinan yo! Kyoto,” an event being held at Kyoto Takashimaya Shopping Center, to sell tote bags and pouches printed with patterns created by students. The “MOYO Project” is a project that creates designs and patterns that focus on color, shape, and material, and attempts to apply them to a variety of media. Every year, third-year students in the Visual Design Department work on the project, aiming to create designs based on the senses gained from observing nature and everyday life. For this event, 15 students aspiring to study visual design will design approximately 20 unique patterns to decorate the windows on the first floor of Kyoto Takashimaya S.C. Additionally, a limited-time pop-up shop will be selling tote bags and pouches featuring these patterns. Kyoto is a city where the traditions of artisans who built a culture of patterns through observation of nature and the local climate live on. “MOYO Project 2025” inherits this spirit, creating designs based on the senses gained from observation and proposing new patterns that blend into modern lifestyles. In addition, this exhibition will feature QR codes displaying
“recommended spots in Kyoto” selected by students along with the patterned works, in connection with the limited-time event “I Love Kyoto!”, which features a selection of items brimming with local love. This will allow you to discover the charms of Kyoto from a new perspective. We hope you will come to the venue and experience the world of “MOYO Project 2025,” where the young talents who will lead the future of Kyoto blend with the traditions of Kyoto.
