Episode 3 “Sea of Hope” synopsis and emotional web preview poster released! “I Want to Eat Me, Monster,” a popular manga serialized in Dengeki Maoh/Kadocomi, whose TV anime adaptation began airing on Thursday, October 2, 2025, is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story about the encounter between a young girl and a monster. The synopsis and web trailer for Episode 3, “Sea of Hope,” have been released. In addition, four “emotional posters” featuring preview cuts have also been released!

However, Shiori’s selfish yet kind actions bring back memories of “those days,” and she shakes off her hand and runs off into the crowd. As they chase after her, Hinako tells Shiori about her memories of “those days” and questions whether Shiori really intends to eat her. In response, Shiori… In the trailer, countless words rise up one after another from the depths of the ocean, along with the voices of Hinako, Shiori, and Miku, creating a mysterious worldview. Additionally, four posters featuring scene cuts from Episode 3 are each made up of two different cuts, and the accompanying memorable words create an emotional finish that further heightens anticipation for the story. Trailers and emotional posters that invite viewers into the world of “I Want to Eat Me, Monster” will be released for each episode. Please keep an eye out for them along with the anime.

I wanted to express the love and obsession of two lonely people who yearn for each other so painfully, so I asked Yurii Kanon to write a song called “Nie.” I hope I can accompany this heart-wrenchingly beautiful and ephemeral worldview. I hope you enjoy this song along with the anime. ■Yoshino Profile Singer. Started her career in 2019 by posting singing videos. In January 2024, Yoshino will hold her first live concert, “Yoshino 1st COVER LIVE “Casablanca”,” at Ebisu Garden Hall. I sang this song imagining Hinako with a faint smile on her face, so I hope you can feel that gentle atmosphere, along with the transience and complexity that it contains. ■Comment from Kitazawa Yuho (Lyrics and Music) I wrote the lyrics and music with the strong desire to express, and felt the need to express, the feelings that Hinako is carrying. The energy of Hinako’s wish to “die” wasn’t “big” or “intense,” but rather “depth” and “tranquility.” I hope you can feel that depth through Lily. May the day come when, in the midst of days when all you can do is walk, you will notice the wind rustling the flowers. ■Comment from Atsushi Sato (Arranger) Kitazawa’s melody and lyrics conveyed Hinako’s struggle with life and her kindness toward her past self. Hinako’s life is packed into this song, and I began arranging it with the desire to translate that into music within Watatabe’s worldview. I completely changed the arrangement for the verse, “Since that day it changed,” and I paid particular attention to the warmth of the words and sound. We wanted to fully utilize the fragility of Ueda’s singing voice, so we included a lot of chorus material, resulting in a song that conveys both coldness and warmth.
