To commemorate Oasis’ visit to Japan, a special screening exhibition, “Oasis Film & Posters 1994/2025,” will be held at New Gallery in Jimbocho from Friday, October 17th. This project will premiere for the first time a 4K digitally remastered video of Oasis’ first live performance in Japan, held in Shibuya in 1994. In addition to the rare archive footage that aired on Space Shower TV at the time, we will screen three songs, including cuts never before aired. The footage, shot with a handheld camera, evokes the band’s passion, capturing the excitement and momentum of the small venue. This footage has been digitally remastered in 4K exclusively for this event using Sony PCL’s latest technology, “RS .” While retaining the atmosphere of 1994, it creates an overwhelming sense of realism that makes you feel as if you were there. Comprised of a trilogy spanning London, New York, and Tokyo, the series redesigns legendary gigs from a modern perspective. In conjunction with this, the exhibition expands the legendary moment of their first performance in Japan, approximately two weeks after their 1994 Shibuya gig—their Japanese debut (August 30th)—into a “seeing/owning” experience. With momentum building for his visit to Japan in 2025, come witness the prospect of a new legend bridging the gap between 1994 and 2025 at the New Gallery. Screen contents Oasis: 1994.09.14 SHIBUYA CLUB QUATTRO Filmed by Space Shower TV Directed by Masaki Ohkita Summary: On September 14th, just six days after the Japanese release of their debut album, “Definitely Maybe” (September 8, 1994), Oasis performed their first live concert in Japan at Shibuya Club Quattro, at the invitation of Smash Corporation. Tickets for their surprise Japan tour, less than a week after going on sale, sold out instantly, creating a swirl of excitement and the excitement of a “first visit to Japan.” As the first night of their subsequent shows at Quattro in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, it was a legendary performance that marked the beginning of the band’s global rise. What is “Oasis Historic Gig Art Poster” The “Oasis Historic Gig Art Poster” is an official art series that reconstructs historic Oasis gigs from a contemporary perspective.
