Tottori prefecture Press release: October 15, 2025 To Members of the Press “Tottori Prefecture will not cancel the Expo! ~Expo loss will come to Tottori~” Information hub “Manga Kingdom Tottori: Selling Good Things and Manga” opens at the Liber Hotel Osaka! The Osaka-Kansai Expo concluded on October 13th with great success. The number of visitors to the Tottori Prefecture zone and related events reached 583,246, and many people from Japan and abroad experienced the charms of Tottori, including the Tottori Infinite Sand Dunes and Manga Kingdom. Many visitors commented that they were able to learn about Tottori’s charms, saying things like, “The projection mapping was so beautiful! I want to take my kids to the Tottori Sand Dunes,” and “I didn’t know the creator of Conan was from Tottori, so this was a great discovery.” Tottori Prefecture will be holding various events under the theme “Spend your Expo-missed time in Tottori” to encourage people to enjoy the post-Expo period in the prefecture. “Manga Kingdom Tottori: Selling Good Things and Manga” information hub opens inside the Liber Hotel Osaka! (From October 14th) Tottori Prefecture has opened “Manga Kingdom Tottori: Eemono Uritte Manga Na” (a play on the Kansai dialect “eemon urite manga na”) on the first floor of the Liber Hotel Osaka to strengthen its promotion of the post-Expo period. The venue will feature an antenna shop selling local products like pears and persimmons, as well as manga-related goods that were popular at the Expo site. There will also be an exhibit where you can take commemorative photos with characters from the Tottori Prefecture zone, an exhibit of sand from Tottori and Jordan, and a tourism promotion corner introducing the Sand Alliance initiative. On October 14th, Detective Conan and GeGeGe no Kitaro also came to support the opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Governor Hirai said, “Tottori Prefecture has decided to continue with the Osaka-Kansai Expo. From today onwards, you can still get the official Expo stamp at the Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center, and from November, we will be exhibiting Jordan’s red sand in Tottori. Please buy it at Sell Manga Nabe, and then say, ‘Kitaro to Tottori Prefecture! Let’s come!’ Conan to Tottori Prefecture! (Let’s come!)”

We’ll also be giving away special commemorative stamp sheets so that even those who don’t have an official Expo stamp book can enjoy them. There’s still plenty of fun to be had with Expo stamps in Tottori! Expo exhibits including Jordanian sand also available in Tottori! The red sand exhibit at the Jordan Pavilion, which was popular at the Expo site, can now be enjoyed in Tottori Prefecture. Starting October 18th, the Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center will be hosting a sand art postcard experience featuring Sandshrew and Alolan Sandshrew, the Tottori Hometown Ambassador Pokémon, using sand from Jordan. From November onwards, at IM Electronics Tottori Sand Dunes Children’s Land, we plan to set up objects using sand from Jordan and Tottori, set up a sand comparison corner, and hold workshops using Jordanian sand. Around January, at Yumeminato Tower, you can experience a collaboration between Jordanian sand and the popular projection mapping that was also available in the Tottori Prefecture zone, as well as exploring the charms of Tottori using a magnifying glass device that recreates the Tottori Infinite Sand Dunes.

We also exhibit works published overseas and rare goods exclusive to Manga Kingdom Tottori. At Tottori Infinite Sand Dunes, which are covered in sand from the Tottori Sand Dunes (sand from outside the national park area is used), visitors can walk across the sand with a magnifying glass-shaped device, and Tottori Prefecture’s specialties, tourist spots, folk crafts, and characters will appear in the magnifying glass, creating a space where you can immerse yourself in the infinite expanse of the Tottori Sand Dunes. At the appointed time, projection mapping will begin at Tottori Infinite Sand Dunes, giving you the feeling that you are immersed in images of Tottori Prefecture’s rich nature, tourist spots, culture, crafts, and more.

The alliance is working to deepen the friendships connected by sand and promote Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai through collaborative Expo diplomacy. The alliance also held a Sand Rally (SAND QUEST) to encourage visits to each pavilion and the prefecture, and introduced member countries at the Tottori Sand Dunes Visitor Center.
