Sony Block Solutions Lab will be giving away NFTs, and Newpicks will have a booth at Shimauma Theater on 10/25 & 10/26 @ Akasaka Intercity Conference. The Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA), Asia’s largest international short film festival and an Academy Awards accredited organization, will be holding a new event in the lobby of the Autumn International Short Film Festival, starting on Wednesday, October 22nd, in collaboration with Immersive Entertainment, a company that creates experiential entertainment, and Media Engine, a company that specializes in short film production, to combine short films with real-life experiences. We are pleased to announce the launch of the short film-linked immersive event “untitled.” This event recreates the world depicted in the short film in a real space, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the story as characters, providing a completely new and unprecedented experience.

Transform your experience from just watching a film into one of participating. Participants step into the story that follows the short film, interacting with the actors as they are guided to the story’s conclusion. An active and immersive experience awaits, going beyond passive viewing. Outline of the “untitled” Short Film-Linked Immersive Event Dates: Saturday, October 25, 2025, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Sunday, October 26, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM Venue: Akasaka Intercity Conference the AIR (4F Akasaka Intercity AIR, 1-8-1 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo) Story: Everything in this solo exhibition is unfinished. With a little effort, it will become complete, so we would be happy if you could bring it closer to completion. However, with regard to existing exhibits, we ask that you make any modifications you like within the scope of what we have instructed you to do. Another option is to feel free to create your own exhibits. We hope that you will inspire new creations from the things in this exhibition room.

The experience doesn’t end with watching the short film; it allows you to “experience the rest” of the story. What’s revolutionary about this film is that the world within the film is expanded into reality, allowing the audience to take part in the subsequent unfolding events as characters. 2. From passive viewing to active participation. Rather than simply “watching” a film, viewers become active participants in an experience where their own choices and actions drive the story. By allowing the audience to intervene in the film’s world, this film creates a sense of immersion and psychological impact not found in traditional cinematic experiences. 3. First-ever collaboration between a film festival and immersive entertainment. This is the first collaboration between SSFF & ASIA, Asia’s leading international short film festival, and Immersive Lab, a company specializing in experiential entertainment. It’s a new, cross-genre cultural experiment that serves as a bridge between the film and experiential event industries. During the festival period, on Saturday, October 25th and Sunday, October 26th, the Akasaka Intercity Conference Center will be hosting an event. Sony Block Solutions Lab will be hosting a giveaway booth where you can win digital items (NFTs) with special bonuses, such as Sony wireless earphones and limited edition merchandise from Sony Pictures’ film “The Karate Kid: Legends.” Designed in collaboration with SHORTSHORS, exclusive to this event. Digital items will be given to all visitors to the booth. In 2001, the festival changed its name to the Short Shorts Film Festival (SSFF), and in 2004 it was recognized as an Academy Award-certified film festival. Also in the same year, the Short Shorts Film Festival Asia (co-hosted by SSFF ASIA, Tokyo) was established with the aim of promoting new Asian film culture and nurturing up-and-coming young filmmakers. Currently, the film festivals are held under the collective name “SSFF & ASIA.” In 2018, to commemorate the festival’s 20th anniversary, the Grand Prix was renamed the “George Lucas Award,” named after director George Lucas. In January 2019, the Short Shorts Film Festival in Hollywood was held as a 20th anniversary event. Starting with the 2019 festival, four films won Excellence Awards in the Live Action category (International, Asia International, Japan) and the Non-Fiction category, and from 2022, five films, including the Excellence Award winner in the Animated category, were eligible for nomination for the following year’s Academy Awards in the Short Film category.
