Resona Capital Co., Ltd. Comment from Hayato Matsuno, Senior Investment Manager Resona Capital invests in startups that are creating a better future in order to realize the Resona Group’s purpose of “Adding Finance to the Future.” The Chain Museum is building an innovative platform that connects artists, art fans, collectors, and businesses to promote Japanese contemporary art to the world. Since the company’s founding, CEO Toyama, a serial entrepreneur with a deep knowledge of art, and his team of professionals with outstanding art expertise, have steadily built up a track record and earned the immense trust of art professionals both in Japan and abroad. Culture and the arts are key engines driving a rich and vibrant social economy. We invested in the company based on our belief that it will significantly advance Japan’s nascent contemporary art market. We will continue to make full use of the Resona Group network to support the creation of new value through art. Comment from Takeaki Kaneda, Representative Director, Goldwin Venture Partners Inc. I am very pleased to have had the opportunity to invest in The Chain Museum and am excited to see what the future holds. In a rapidly changing environment with growing diversity and the advancement of AI, art and design are becoming increasingly important in driving business. We’ve entered an era where art schools are becoming more important than business schools. However, many people would honestly say that contemporary art, in particular, is difficult, or that there are many aspects of it that are hard to understand. I’m one of them. However, the company’s efforts create a touchpoint between this complex contemporary art and us, the intelligent consumer, making art more interesting and helping us to propose and understand it. At the same time, it also fulfills its function of discovering and nurturing artists, an increasingly important part of human work. It is precisely because both of these wheels are turning that we have a competitive advantage that is hard to find and cannot be imitated by other companies. There also appears to be many possibilities for collaboration with the various businesses being promoted by the Goldwin Group. We are truly excited! Daibiru Corporation Comment from Kohei Sunazawa, General Manager of
Development Planning Department We are truly pleased to have formed a relationship with The Chain Museum, an industry leader in the contemporary art world that combines the digital and physical worlds, and to be involved in their venture through investment. The company operates a platform business that connects contemporary Japanese artists with fans both in Japan and overseas. Building on the trust it has built up over the years, it has created a virtuous cycle that attracts many artists and works. As a result, it has attracted a diverse range of stakeholders in the art world, helping to create the “global chain” that the company aims to achieve. Our company is a real estate developer headquartered in Nakanoshima, Osaka, a city brimming with culture and art. Through this investment and collaboration, we hope to harness the power of contemporary art in urban development, further enhancing the appeal of the area and the value of buildings. Through our collaboration with The Chain Museum, we hope to build a new relationship in which cities and art resonate with each other, contributing to the realization of a richer, more creative society. Comment from Junichi Kogawa, Director of Investment, NANKAI NEXT Ventures Inc. We decided to invest in The Chain Museum because we were impressed by their deep passion for contemporary art and their ability to drive an innovative business model. As Japan’s oldest surviving private railway, we have supported people’s transportation for over 140 years and have worked hard to develop the areas along our railway lines through a variety of businesses. In particular, in recent years we have been promoting urban development that combines both tangible and intangible aspects. We believe that adding The Chain Museum’s aesthetic infrastructure of contemporary art to our physical assets will lead to more attractive area management and the creation of unprecedented new customer experiences. We will fully support The Chain Museum in realizing its vision of a rich society where art is a part of everyday life. The Chain Museum is looking for colleagues to join us in growing our business.
