Its predecessor, “Shibukura Matsuri,” which began in 2011, inherited its philosophy of “discovering and supporting new talent” and was relaunched as P.O.N.D. in 2020. The name, “Parco Opens New Dimension,” embodies the idea of constantly breaking new ground, and it is a place where the talent and energy of creators from a wide range of genres, including art, fashion, music, and video, can be unleashed. The P.O.N.D. Award, launched in 2024, selects one exhibitor through a vote of the public. The award provides the winning artist with a prize to support them in holding a solo exhibition the following year. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University, majoring in Textile Design. His first solo exhibition will be held at SOM GALLERY in April 2024. Focusing on the shape of textiles, where the intersecting fibers create a three-dimensional structure, Kurotaki creates
three-dimensional works using handcrafted combinations of warp and weft threads. In his signature “Human” series, he confines a human figure within a frame composed of regularly-spaced threads,
highlighting the patterned nature of modern society and human thought. Through his work, he attempts to highlight the emptiness of modern society and his own perception of human perspective, leading people to liberate themselves from algorithms.
