The paper is made from polyester fiber recycled from PET bottles. This year, with the cooperation of Teijin Frontier Co., Ltd., we will be producing a picture book using paper recycled from PET bottles and plastic cups collected in Munakata. The content of the picture book is a
collaboration with Munakata’s popular local mascot, “Munakata’s Ten-chan”! What did Ten-chan, who loves the ocean, find in the sea…? He has created a story that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, with the theme of “protecting the marine environment.” On the day of the Munakata Festival, a picture book presentation ceremony will be held on stage. The annual “Eco Station” will also be set up at the venue to sort waste generated at the venue, so we appreciate your cooperation!

Participation fee: Free No reservation required ■Munakata Festival participants clean up the ocean Since its inception in 2012, Munakata Festival has aimed to have Okinoshima, known as the “sacred island,” designated a World Heritage Site, achieving this goal in 2017. Based on the fundamental concept of protecting and passing on the marine environment surrounding Okinoshima, the festival has grown through trial and error, exploring ways to solve environmental issues through a music festival. With the hope that the visitors who fill the venue every year will come to love the ocean, organizers, artists, and local children continue to clean up the coastline. In 2015, we launched the Eco Ticket initiative, which offers discounted tickets for those who participate in cleanup activities, and has seen participation from a wide variety of people.
