Growing up in both New York and Japan, MIYACHI sublimates the struggles of his time as a salaryman into songs that confront societal pressures and the artificiality of success. The album’s tone is set by the opening track, “NANDEYANEN,” with its painful lyrics and somewhat comical, anime-esque vocal performance. The album’s highlight, “DO ME,” features guest appearance by Japanese hip-hop veteran AK-69, overwhelming the audience with its immense energy. Meanwhile, “UFO,” produced by Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Dubba-AA (Kodak Black, NBA YoungBoy Never Broke Again), transports listeners to interstellar travel with its otherworldly trap beats. MIYACHI’s unique cultural perspective shines through in every performance, from his popular YouTube series, KONBINI CONFESSIONS, in which he plays a disillusioned salaryman, to his enthusiastic performance at Boiler Room Hong Kong in May. With classical pianist parents, Miyachi began writing songs and other creative endeavors while in high school. He studied acoustic engineering at Temple University in Philadelphia. He discovered hip-hop in high school, rapping with friends during lunchtime and producing beats after school. While attending Temple University in Philadelphia, he deepened his knowledge and grew significantly in the local hip-hop community. He traveled to Japan as a child and spent a lot of time learning the language. After graduating from college, he began rapping in Japanese. With the release of “WAKARIMASEN” in 2018, he quickly emerged on the Japanese hip-hop scene. He soon followed with notable singles such as “Messin” and “MAINICHI” featuring JAY PARK, and “Crazy Outside” featuring Thelma Aoyama. He has collaborated with legendary Japanese artists such as RADWIMPS, MISIA, m-flo, and ANARCHY. His second single, “Famima Rap,” reached number one on Japan’s viral hit charts. His YouTube channel, “KONBINI CONFESSIONS,” has 230,000 subscribers and is full of humor, showcasing his diverse talents beyond just his musical talents. In May 2025, he performed at Boiler Room in Hong Kong, and his fan base is becoming more
international every year. He is also the first Japanese artist to sign with Mass Appeal, the American hip-hop label founded by Nas, which will release his latest album.
