Fusion of Traditional Techniques and Modern Culture Hansan Co., Ltd. (Representative Director: Eiji Sakai) produces, plans, and creates a variety of works, preserving tradition while continuing to take on new challenges in order to preserve the world-renowned ukiyo-e art of Japan. We have collaborated with many popular content, including movies, anime, and games, and our works, which combine traditional techniques with modern culture, have been well-received. Now, a new work, “Edo Doraemon Actor Art,” has been born from the third edition. Based on Utagawa Kunisada’s masterpiece This work was created based on “Oatsurahe Sanshoku Benkei” (Delivered to a Custom Three-Colored Benkei) by Utagawa Kunisada (later Toyokuni III), a representative ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo period. Kunisada was a popular artist who excelled in portraits of actors and beautiful women, capturing the sophistication of the Edo common people. His brushwork is a valuable artistic asset that conveys the kabuki and townspeople culture of the time to the present day. In this work, while retaining the poses and compositions of popular young actors drawn by Kunisada, he portrays familiar characters such as Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo in a brave and adorable manner. The background features a three-color checkered pattern known as “Benkei lattice (Benkei stripe),” creating a gorgeous finish that blends Edo-period design with a modern pop aesthetic. The composition, which highlights the contrast between stillness and movement, truly embodies the aesthetic sense and playfulness unique to ukiyo-e. ■Product overview
