The Last Dinner Party is a five-piece band from London that has won two Brit Awards. In Japan, they performed on the Green Stage at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’24, and in April 2025, they returned to Japan for a solo tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. This album began production in early 2025 with Grammy Award-winning producer Markus Dravs. It captures the image of a band purely enjoying music, and the bond forged through long tours allows one to sense the process of a young band growing together and maturing their songwriting. The Last Dinner Party describes the album as “a collection of mythical stories. The pyre from which these stories are born symbolizes both destruction and rebirth, as well as passion and light. The lyrics are peppered with mythical imagery, including rifles, scythes, sailors, saints, cowboys, floods, and Joan of Arc, adding weight to the stories.” The lead single, “The Scythe,” is a quietly burning track that originated from songs about heartbreak that Abigail Morris began writing as a teenager. The music video celebrates eternal bonds and depicts the fantasy of parents growing old together. The Japanese version of the album, released at the same time, will include four bonus tracks. These are live recordings selected from the band’s performances around the world between 2024 and 2025, including a live recording of “This Is the Killer Speaking” from the performance at Gorilla Hall Osaka on Friday, April 18th, during the band’s Japan tour that took them to Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka in April of this year. A five-piece band from London that rose to prominence on the live music scene. In 2022, they were selected as the opening act for The Rolling Stones’ Hyde Park concert, and their catchy, dark guitar pop song “Nothing Matters,” released in April 2023, became a hot topic online, rapidly spreading the band’s name. They captivated audiences at festivals across the UK in the summer of 2023, including Reading, and sold out all five shows on their US tour in the fall, weeks before the shows. In 2024, they ranked #1 in the BBC’s Sound of 2024 and won the BRIT Award for Rising Star, attracting attention in the indie rock scene. In February of the same year, they released their debut album, “Prelude to Ecstasy,” produced by legendary producer James Ford, who has worked with Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys, and others. The album was also nominated for the 2024 Mercury Prize. Their first solo
performance in Japan, held at LIQUIDROOM in July, sold out. They also performed on the Green Stage at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’24, thrilling the audience. In April 2025, they completed a solo tour of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. They won Best New Artist at the BRIT Awards 2025.
