Illustration by Akane Higashie The Executive Committee for the “Chimugukuru (Caring Heart)” art event for people with disabilities will hold the “Future World Art Exhibition ‘Chimugukuru'” at the Okinawa Convention Center (Ginowan City, Okinawa Prefecture) on June 6, 2026. We will be collecting paintings by people with disabilities from 193 countries (target countries) around the world and Japan, centered on the themes of “Chimugukuru (compassion)” and “Hope, Peace, and Coexistence.” The 193 paintings will be compiled and exhibited as a single 28×28 meter installation. We hope to unify the prayers of people with disabilities and share them with the world, as well as create a platform for selling artwork with the goal of helping people with disabilities become self-sufficient in the future. We also hope to share with the world the desire for peace held by the people of Okinawa Prefecture, who suffered the horrors of war during the Asia-Pacific War. A press conference was held in Tokyo on October 21st to announce and introduce the event. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all members of the media for their coverage of people with disabilities. We would like to share the details of this event with the media and ask for their guidance and support. Key Points of the Chimugukuru Exhibition – Supporting the Activities of People with Disabilities through Art ●Collecting drawings from 193 countries around the world to support activities for people with disabilities The “Chimugukuru” art exhibition is being organized by NGOs and the executive committee, and is seeking artwork from facilities for people with disabilities and child protection facilities around the world. The goal is to reach all 193 UN member countries. Japanese facilities for people with disabilities are also being invited to participate. Since it is impossible to collect artwork from all 193 countries, we are asking for assistance from UN organizations and NGOs. We hope that this event will raise awareness of the activities of people with disabilities and children, leading to the creation of a system that will enable them to become financially independent.

The piece will be divided into 193 pieces, and participants will be asked to paint each of these pieces. On June 6th, nearly 1,000 volunteers will gather in Okinawa to hold up each piece, creating a giant (28m x 28m) painting. By uniting the feelings of all
participants, we hope to send a message of peace and harmony to the world.

We are currently in discussions with relevant public institutions and will soon announce our support and PR concept. Message from Founder, Inamine Tsutomu I run the social welfare corporation Mirai in Okinawa. I have been involved in welfare activities to ensure that people with disabilities can feel safe and secure. Eighteen years ago, in 2007, I was involved in the “Okinawa Big Art Exhibition,” which collected paintings by people with disabilities in Okinawa and combined them into a single work. The paintings displayed a variety of individuality, from strength to delicacy, and I was deeply moved. I started this event with the desire to share that emotion with as many people as possible. This time, we’re calling on 193 countries around the world (the number of UN member states) to participate. One painting will be divided into 193 pieces, the same number as the number of countries in the world, and each participant will complete one piece from the 193.
Participants will then pool these pieces together to complete a giant painting at the Okinawa Convention Center on June 6th next year. Support facilities for people with disabilities and other
collaborators in Japan will help out on behalf of those in countries unable to participate. We are holding this event in the hope that the “Chimugukuru” (compassionate hearts) of 193 countries gathering in Okinawa, Japan, will reach people around the world, overlapping with the kindness and prayers for peace of the people of Okinawa
Prefecture. Going forward, we hope to use this art exhibition as an opportunity to create a permanent exhibition and sales system for art by people with disabilities. We hope to create a system that can help people with disabilities achieve independence. We also plan to call for support from companies that support the social activities of people with disabilities. We ask all journalists to help us spread the word about “Chimugukuru,” a program originating from Okinawa, throughout Japan and around the world.
