The comedians, who are passionate about BS, spoke at length about the appeal of BS programming and the highlights of their own shows. During the program, the cast members announced the BS programs they would like to host in the future. It was announced that Kenkoba’s original “B Set Meal Journey” will be renamed “B Food Journey” and air for one hour on BS Asahi on Sunday, October 26th, starting at 6 PM! A familiar lunchtime menu at restaurants is the “alphabet menu” known as “A Set Meal” or “A Lunch.” While there are “B Set Meals” and “B Lunches” in addition to A, do you ever find yourself choosing “A Meal”? In this program, we visit beloved local restaurants to sample “B Meals,” guaranteed to be just as delicious and
high-quality as “A Meals.” Listen to the owner’s story and enjoy his signature “B-Meal.” The cast includes Kenkoba, the creator of the project, as well as the Asagaya Sisters as B-Meal members!
Additionally, Football Hour’s Teruki Goto will be narrating the project as a witness. Goto, who doesn’t have his own show on BS broadcasting, is criticized for merely “watching” the comedians’ BS-themed shows on “BS Great War Comedians,” and he confesses to Kenkoba and the others, “It’s great to be able to do what I want freely.” However, Goto will play an important role in Kenkoba’s “B-Meal Journey” project, so keep an eye out for that, too. ■Kenkoba visits a historic Western restaurant in Machida. With many major streets, it’s also a hotbed of food. Packed with famous restaurants, Kenkoba immediately began strolling the streets, convinced there must be an exciting “B-set meal” there. However, upon checking the menus in front of the restaurants, he discovered surprisingly few alphabetical options! A little perplexed, Kenkoba set out on a quest to find a “B-set meal” in search of a hidden gem. Finally, he arrived at the Western restaurant “Grill Mama.” The red brick exterior already exudes a charming atmosphere. Kenkoba’s heart filled with anticipation, knowing that there must be a treasure-like B-meal here. Upon opening the heavy door, the interior was enveloped in a nostalgic atmosphere that made him forget the hustle and bustle of the city. Kenkoba ordered Mama Lunch B after hearing from the owner about the restaurant’s history and the differences between its signature dishes, “Mama Lunch A” and “Mama Lunch B.” He smiles broadly when he learns that he will be able to enjoy such luxurious dishes as minced meat cutlet, shrimp gratin, and fried scallops. Kenkoba was particularly pleased with the shrimp gratin. In fact, Kenkoba is a big fan of gratin. He has kept it a secret until now, saying, “But a man who likes gratin must have an extremely childish feel to him (laughs).” This time, he finally comes out (!?) and enjoys his favorite dishes to his heart’s content. “Maybe B is better than A,” “No need to order anything extra,” “The clear consommé soup has an indescribable depth. This is no ordinary dish,” Kenkoba savored the “B meal” that supports this renowned restaurant, savoring it to the fullest. The Asagaya Sisters’ name begins with the letter A, but Eriko says that if this show proves popular, they might become the “B-foodies.” This time, they’ll visit a famous restaurant in the area, which may lead to a change in the Asagaya Sisters’ name (!?). The two visited Nogata Shokudo, a restaurant in Nogata that has been in business for nearly 90 years since 1936. It turns out that the wildly popular A-Meal has sold over 80,000 meals. Its signature and most popular dish is chicken karaage and ginger pork. The owner explains how much effort goes into preparing it. Meanwhile, the main course of B-Meal is chicken karaage and tuna chunks. Apparently, it was created around the same time as A-Meal, for the amusing reason that “if A-Meal exists, B-Meal must exist too…” When they learned that the menu reflected the opinions of female employees at the time, Eriko expressed her satisfaction, saying, “They even have meat and fish. They really understand the desires of women.” When the long-awaited tasting session finally began, the meal consisted of fist-sized chicken, bite-sized pieces of tuna, shiny white rice, dried daikon radish with a unique twist, miso soup, and oshinko – a perfect combination! The Asagaya Sisters’ expressions of happiness appeared on their faces as they ate intently. When they finished, Miho said, “The taste warmed my heart as well.” They thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of this restaurant that has satisfied the stomachs of local people. Another highlight of the show is Terumoto Goto’s narration. Goto, who is close friends with Kenkoba and the Asagaya Sisters, watches over them with sharp conversation, feeling a little envious as Kenkoba and the others beam in front of the delicious gourmet food. “B Food Journey” explores the menus of famous restaurants from a unique perspective known as “B Food.” Stay tuned for this new gourmet exploration show! Kendo Kobayashi Comment “I think ‘B meals’ are often overlooked. When you go to a restaurant for the first time, you always end up ordering the A lunch or A set meal. But when you look at the menu, there are many times when you think, ‘This B meal looks delicious too.’ I was convinced that a program targeting that audience would be interesting. I haven’t said this until now to protect my image, but I really love gratin. I was happy that it was a perfect match for the ‘B meal’ I had today. The béchamel sauce was amazing. The restaurant itself has a long history, and the nostalgic atmosphere was irresistible. For BS Asahi, I’m hosting a business hotel program called “Kenkoba’s Tipsy Business Hotel Stay: Nationwide Edition,” which means I often have to walk around town at night. While walking around town, I sometimes come across a restaurant I’m interested in for lunch, but I can’t introduce it due to business hours or other reasons. I’ve always wanted to do a program with a different angle than business hotels, so this is a dream come true. I’d be happy if I could do both “B-meals” and “business hotels” in the future. I hope you’ll see a different “Lunch Kenkoba” this time around than when I was at a business hotel, and I hope you’ll also pay attention to the “B-meals” of the beautiful women (the Asagaya Sisters) who appear with me.” Asagaya Sisters Comments Eriko Watanabe “‘Meal A’ is made up of the restaurant’s standard and popular dishes, so you’re guaranteed to encounter deliciousness.
