The “Uwajima Photo Festival 2025 UWAJIMA SIGHTS” will be held in Uwajima City, Ehime Prefecture from Saturday, October 25, 2025 to Monday, November 24, 2025 (holiday).

This first-time festival is an art photography celebration with the theme “Islands in Motion: A Hometown in Motion,” showcasing the charms of Uwajima both domestically and internationally. Artworks by outstanding photographers from Japan and abroad have been transformed into public art. In Uwajima, a city woven with beautiful nature, a rich lifestyle, and a unique culture and history, we offer a new photography experience that will overturn preconceived notions through the power of art. Theme “Islands in Motion” A complex, ria coastline and small settlements scattered like islands. Uwajima’s landscape resembles a series of “moving islands” floating in the sea. Each island is independent, yet connected by invisible bonds. UWAJIMA SIGHTS 2025 will be themed “Islands in Motion” and will focus on the geographical and cultural characteristics of Uwajima. This exhibition sheds light on the changing lifestyles and perspectives of the people who live there. In an age where depopulation, aging, and social division are discussed, there is movement in this area. Navigate, interact, record, and play. Photographers focus on small changes hidden in quiet landscapes and signs of the future. A place that was once closed off is now slowly opening up to the outside. “Hometown in Motion” offers a new perspective for capturing Uwajima’s present state.
