Behind the scenes of local industries and crafts that usually go unnoticed, a variety of materials are born every day and then quietly forgotten. ACTA picks up materials that would otherwise be discarded in the area and transforms them into new forms of expression through the hands of artists. Through the artworks, visitors can unravel the backstories of local industries and crafts and discover new appeal. We hope that spending time exploring such art will leave you with deeper, richer memories of your trip. Comments about the initiative

In this project, ACTA and artists transformed items that would otherwise be discarded from the local industries and crafts that each facility is rooted in into art that enhances guests’ stay experience. We hope that through the stories behind these local materials, guests will be able to experience the appeal of each region’s industries and crafts, and that this will inspire them to think about a sustainable future.” - ORIX Hotel Management:

Once a year, ORIX Hotel Management offers experiences related to three SDGs that are particularly relevant to tourism: “Decent Work and Economic Growth,” “Responsible Consumption and Production,” and “Conservation of the Environment and the
Environment.” These experiences are offered at inns, hotels, and training facilities directly operated or supported by ORIX Hotel Management. The first year, in 2024, was themed “SAVE THE SEA,” and focused on SDG Goal 14, “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans and seas,” offering five experiences, including an exhibition of upcycled marine plastic waste. The aim is for the “awareness” gained from the experiences at the travel destination to have an impact that will bring about even the slightest change in awareness and behavior in everyday life. -Project page:

Working with over 500 artists nationwide, we create and sell art using waste as a starting point and collaborate with companies and local communities on projects. By giving new value to waste, we aim to foster a culture in which sustainability is recognized as an attractive concept. Company Name: ACTA PLUS Co., Ltd.
