Nippon Budokan Public Interest Foundation Press Release: October 21, 2025 [Let’s do calligraphy at Nippon Budokan! 】The 62nd All-Japan Calligraphy Exhibition, an annual New Year’s event at the Nippon Budokan, is now accepting applications for the calligraphy competition (deadline November 7th) and the public section (deadline January 8th). The 62nd All-Japan Calligraphy Exhibition [Sekisho competition held on Monday, January 5, 2020/Public calligraphy section deadline: January 8, 2020] Start the New Year at the Nippon Budokan with a calligraphy ceremony, a chance to reflect on yourself through calligraphy. In addition to promoting and spreading martial arts, the Nippon Budokan also promotes calligraphy, a traditional culture closely related to martial arts, and engages in activities aimed at the healthy development of young people and the enrichment of the nation’s sentiments. The “All Japan Calligraphy Exhibition,” an annual New Year’s event that has been held since the Nippon Budokan opened, will be held again this year. This exhibition will feature a “Sekisho Competition (Sekisho Section)” in which participants will hold a calligraphy competition at the Nippon Budokan Main Dojo, and an “Open Calligraphy Section” in which participants can submit their own completed works. Anyone can participate in both sections, from preschoolers and elementary school students to the general public.
