■Friend Robot Project Activities The “Friend Robot” project offers a new perspective on the relationship between robots and humans, exploring a future in which technology and humans are integrated not only through technological innovation but also from social and cultural perspectives. [Activities] 1. Building and promoting a new relationship between robots and humans We will organize and analyze the history of symbiosis between robots and humans in Japan and spread Japanese robot culture to the world. We will also provide an opportunity for countries with different cultural backgrounds to reconsider the relationship between robots and humans. 2. Realizing Well-Being through Robots We aim to build a bridge between robots and human emotional needs, contributing to human mental health.
Specifically, we will work to utilize and popularize robots as a solution to address loneliness and alienation in modern society. We hope to explore new forms of human relationships and bring a new dimension of richness to people’s lives.
■B Lab Overview “B Lab,” an acronym for Beyond, Borderless, Breakthrough, is a research institute. While it may be called a research lab, it is actually a participatory platform that connects universities, research institutes, regions, and people around the world, fusing the expertise and knowledge of many people to create new technologies, services, content, businesses, and society. While the scope is broad, including technology development, solving social issues, and creating new services, the common thread is social implementation, and everyone creates it together. Dads, moms, aunts, and children are all researchers. Become a Lifelong Seeker and get your second researcher business card. It is social, open, and participatory, connecting everyone, including users, to build a new society, matching issues, ideas, technology, money, skills, and people, and aiming to create an exciting future together, from small creations to big creations.
