“Natsumatsuri Naniwa Kagami” Danshichi Kurobei / Shoichi Asano (Photography: Tokuharu Yamada) Flyer design: Manabu Azuma (188) We are pleased to present “Yakusha,” a photo exhibition by Tokuharu Yamada, a Kansai-based photographer who has photographed people active in the world of performance, including theater, dance, live music, and classical concerts. This exhibition features portraits of actors and theater company members that Yamada has photographed at small theaters in the Kansai region. Through the performers’ “moments of performance” and “natural expressions,” he captures “living expression” both on and off the stage.

Since then, he has gazed upon and photographed many performers through his viewfinder. His works, imbued with respect and empathy for his subjects, convey the human energy that breathes in the extraordinary world of the stage. A special talk featuring artist Azuma Manabu will be held on Saturday, November 8th during the exhibition.
