They divided into teams, exploring who they wanted to communicate with and how, and created catchy slogans that expressed “the charms of Tsukuba City as perceived by locals.” The two themes were Mount Tsukuba, the symbol of Tsukuba City, and the surrounding urban areas that developed as hubs of life during the old town and village era. The instructor selected one catchy slogan for each team from each theme, and Aoki incorporated it into the design on the spot. With participants watching, Aoki explained the fun of designing, which changes the impression by changing the letter size, decoration, and font, and created two posters that convey the charms of Tsukuba City on the spot. The posters of the remaining teams will be published on the project’s official website and social media at a later date. ■Participant Survey Results In a survey conducted after the seminar, 100% of participants were satisfied with the seminar (Note 1), and 100% expressed an intention to engage in information dissemination and design (Note 2), indicating a strong desire to engage in information dissemination and design. Comments included comments such as, “My horizons have broadened,” and “I want to learn more about design.”
