BS-TBS’s popular program “Let’s Drink at a Local Chinese Restaurant” (broadcast every Monday at 10 PM) features Tamabukuro Kintaro, Higuchi Hina, and Kiyota Mikuri casually visiting local Chinese restaurants and sharing their charms. The episode airing on Monday, October 27th, is an entire hour-long episode titled “Yachiyo City Special.” Featuring Natsumi Tsunoda, a native of Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, who won the gold medal in the women’s 48kg judo category at the 2024 Paris Olympics! Tamabukuro and Tsunoda, who are both martial arts lovers and have been friends for a while, share a drink and enjoy a local Chinese restaurant. A mixed martial arts fight between Tamabukuro, a “local Chinese restaurant black belt,” and Tsunoda, a “gold medalist and judo black belt,” has been held at a local Chinese restaurant. 【Program Content】 Tamabukuro Kintaro meets up with Kakuta Natsumi at Katsutadai Station on the Keisei Main Line. Before going for a drink at a local Chinese restaurant, they make a detour to Kakuta’s alma mater, Yachiyo High School. Seeing people passing by Tsunoda on the street cheering him on with “Good luck,” Tamabukuro realizes once again that he is a big local star. The first place the pair visits is Eikoro, where the proprietress is a big fan of Tsunoda. They receive a warm welcome with cheering goods. Eikoro is a local Chinese restaurant that was founded 51 years ago. It has been in business in Yachiyo City since before the period of high economic growth, and is a beloved restaurant with families, always stocking “Local Chinese Happy Meals” that offer free toys for children. First, the pair order large bottles of beer and toast. Tsunoda, a “gold medalist and judo black belt,” learns about the good points of local Chinese food from Tamabukuro, a “local Chinese black belt,” while drinking heavily during the hour. Tsunoda tries the “curry head (without rice)” for the first time, a dish that has become a staple on the show. Meanwhile, Tamabukuro delves into Tsunoda’s motivations for starting judo, the inside story of his first dashi at the Paris Olympics, and the struggles he currently faces as an athlete. This time, in addition to the history and appeal of local Chinese restaurants and the personality of the owners, we’ll also look at the gold medalist’s personality, drinking habits, and eating habits. Note: The first restaurant we visited was “Eikoro,” and the second was “Maruyama Shokudo.” ◆Comment from Natsumi Tsunoda I never thought the day would come where I’d be able to have a drink and eat Chinese food with Tamabukuro-san, whom I met through a fateful encounter, in my hometown of Yachiyo City! He was very easy to talk to, and we had a really enjoyable time talking about all sorts of things. I learned how to enjoy local Chinese food, and I feel like I’ve grown up a little. Please join us in enjoying some Chinese food while watching! ◆Broadcast Information “Let’s go for a drink at a local Chinese restaurant” Broadcast Date and Time: Monday, October 27th, 10:00 PM – 11:00 PM Cast: Kintaro Tamabukuro Guest: Natsumi Tsunoda ◇Program Overview In this program, Tamabukuro Kintaro, who loves to drink in town, along with Higuchi Hina and Kiyota Mikuri, casually visit Chinese restaurants in each town, enjoying delicious food and drinks while learning about the history of the establishments and the warmth of the owners.
