Ideal for SMPTE ST 2110 Environments – Supporting IP Media Operations in the Broadcast Market with PTPv2 BC Support – All of the switches released this time support the high-precision time synchronization standard “IEEE 1588 PTPv2 TC (Transparent Clock),” required for synchronized playback of audio, video, and other media. In network environments consisting of 100G/25G/10G/1Gbps, the switch adds relay delay time information to PTP messages passing through the switch before forwarding them. This enables synchronization accuracy between devices to be maintained at less than 1 μsec, even in applications requiring real-time
performance, such as in the Pro AV market. In addition, the standard L3 switches “SWX3220-30MC” and “SWX3220-30TCs” support “IEEE 1588 PTPv2 BC (Boundary Clock).” In network environments consisting of 100G/25G/10G/1Gbps, PTP messages can be terminated and regenerated using a local clock, maintaining highly accurate time synchronization even across multiple segments. This ensures the synchronization accuracy required for IP transmission of video, audio, and auxiliary data in SMPTE ST 2110 environments, enabling reliable use in IP-based media operations in the broadcast market.

Smart network management through the cloud: Yamaha switch products now support YNO (※) All switches released this time are compatible with Yamaha’s cloud-based network management service, YNO (Yamaha Network Organizer). YNO is a cloud service that allows for centralized management of multiple network devices, including routers and wireless LAN access points, helping to improve operational efficiency and visibility. YNO allows you to select multiple network devices and update their firmware in bulk, reducing the burden of maintenance work. The GUI Forwarder function allows you to directly log in to the GUI of your branch devices via YNO. When used in conjunction with the LAN map, you can visually check the network configuration on the LAN side and easily grasp the operational status. Furthermore, the alarm notification function allows you to view alarm information sent from each device on the YNO management screen, facilitating early detection and response to problems. Even in a multi-vendor network environment, if a Yamaha switch is installed at the core of the LAN, you can visualize and manage devices under routers made by other
manufacturers. These features enable smarter and more efficient network operation and management. In addition to the switches being released this time, the existing Intelli L2, Lite L3, and Standard L3 switch series will also be compatible with YNO by updating to compatible firmware. This means that already deployed switches can also be managed via cloud management, enabling integrated management of new and old switches installed at multiple locations, further improving operational consistency and efficiency. *Please check here for information on compatible firmware.

installers: Addition of SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX profiles. All switches released this time have enhanced profile configuration functionality for the professional AV market, adding new profiles compatible with SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX. These profiles are industry-standard protocols for transmitting video, audio, and control data over IP networks with high accuracy and low latency, and are widely used in broadcasting facilities. In particular, a GUI-based profile selection function makes setup easy, even for ProAV installers unfamiliar with network equipment. This allows for quick deployment and stable operation in the field without having to worry about complex network settings. Furthermore, profile settings can also be changed using the dip switches on the back of the unit. This allows for physical
configuration in the field without requiring remote access, making it easy for ProAV installers to use and significantly reducing the burden of deployment. This allows for flexible and rapid response, making it highly convenient in a variety of field environments.

Expanding Network Construction Flexibility with BGP Support – Standard BGP Support – The newly released standard L3 switches, the SWX3220-30MC and SWX3220-30TCs, now support BGP4 (Border Gateway Protocol 4 ) as a dynamic routing protocol. While standard L3 switches previously supported interior gateway protocols (IGPs) such as RIP and OSPF, BGP4 support now enables the exchange of route information between different autonomous systems (ASs) as an exterior gateway protocol (EGP), enabling more flexible and advanced routing design. An AS is a group of networks operated by a single administrative entity, and the entire Internet is made up of numerous ASs. IGPs are used to exchange route information within an AS, while EGPs are used to exchange route information between ASs. BGP4 is a representative EGP and is an important protocol that supports the backbone of the Internet. This feature is included as standard and can be used without an additional license. It can be used not only for site-to-site connections and multi-homed configurations in the IT market, but also for segment separation and optimization of video and audio
transmission networks in the ProAV market. This enables more advanced routing configurations in network environments that require high reliability and flexibility, such as broadcasting facilities, event venues, and educational facilities.
