25th Edition: Shiga Local Bear Background and purpose This project aims to promote the charms of each prefecture through community-based activities by Apaman Shop, and to revitalize the region. The energetic “Bear-kun” will perform dances against the backdrop of each region’s iconic landscapes and local specialties, promoting the charms of the region. This initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, “Sustainable Cities and Communities,” and also aims to create an economic ripple effect in the region by disseminating information through social media, contributing to Goal 8, “Decent Work and Economic Growth.” Part 25: The Eight Auspicious Aspects of Shiga Raccoon Dogs and the Lake Biwa Dance For this 25th installment, the group will perform an original dance set against the backdrop of Lake Biwa, a symbol of Shiga, along with a Shigaraki-yaki raccoon dog, which has long been considered a lucky charm. The motif is the “eight auspicious aspects” of the Shigaraki ware raccoon dog – hat, sake bottle, bankbook, ledger, belly, face, eyes and tail – and it conveys the message of “cherishing your connections and living honestly.”

Promoting the appeal of housing and lifestyle in Shiga Shiga Prefecture offers a perfect balance between abundant nature and easy access to the city, making it a “just right lifestyle.” Centered around Lake Biwa, which takes up approximately one-sixth of the prefecture, the area boasts a tranquil environment surrounded by water and greenery.
