■Lecture by Yasumasa Morimura: “What I Learned from Becoming Van Gogh” Morimura Yasumasa is known for his self-portraits in which he dresses up as historical figures and works of art. His first self-portrait, in 1985, was of Van Gogh with a bandage around his ear. Approximately 30 years later, he returned to Van Gogh’s presence and published “The Art History of Self-Portraits (Visiting Van Gogh’s Room)” in 2016. He is an indispensable artist when considering the history of Van Gogh’s reception in Japan. On the day, we will welcome Yasumasa Morimura to Hakone to give a lecture.
