In January 2026, the second floor will be renovated to host exhibitions by international artists. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Casa Batlló will open its new exhibition space in January 2026. The first exhibition will feature a UVA exhibition and facade mapping, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Gaudi’s death.

Casa Batllo (C) Casa Batllo Casa Batlló will reopen its second-floor space (approximately 230 square meters), which has long been closed to the public, as a gallery for contemporary art exhibitions on January 31, 2026. Formerly used as a residence and conservation workshop, this space has been redesigned by Barcelona-based architecture firm Mesura, while respecting its history. This initiative is part of the “Casa Batlló Contemporary” art program, and the museum plans to continue collaborating with international artists under this framework. The inaugural exhibition, “Beyond the Façade,” will feature an
installation by London-based art studio United Visual Artists (UVA). Founded by Matt Clark, UVA is known for its work that combines light, architecture, and technology. On the same day, UVA will also unveil a large-scale projection mapping installation on the facade of Casa Batlló, providing a spatial experience that integrates architecture and art.

Mesura, the architects, introduced a curved metal structure on the ceiling that resembles ripples on water. Using the latest robotic technology, they carefully preserved original elements like the woodwork and stained glass. Mesura architect Carlos Dimas describes the design as “a whispering touch to Gaudí’s universe.”
