About the MINASE 20th Anniversary Fair Founded in a workshop in Minase, Akita Prefecture, MINASE has continued to create unique timepieces that combine Japanese precision processing technology with the sensibilities of artisans, ever since its debut in 2005, with the goal of “creating products that will be talked about 100 years from now.” Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, MINASE reinterprets its history as the “art of time.” The “MINASE 20th Anniversary Fair” will be held in Yoyogi, Shibuya Ward, as a venue to present a new relationship between craftsmanship and art. Yusai Dial: Art Reflecting the Depths of Time MINASE JAPAN ART COLLECTION The “Yusai Dial” is a new treasure from MINASE, a soulful collaboration between contemporary artist Towa Takaya and Japan’s proud watch brand, MINASE. “Yu” (yū) embodies the eternal flow of time The character “Yu” (yū) symbolizes the eternal and leisurely flow of time. It transcends the concept of linear time, expressing the “depth of time” that circulates eternally and gently. The colors engraved on the dial quietly yet richly speak to the infinite flow of time. The aesthetics of “Iro” woven together by light and color “Iro” refers to the delicate “fluctuation” and
“multi-layeredness” inherent in color itself. Colors reflect the moment they are exposed to light and change appearance moment by moment depending on the viewing angle and environment, embodying the “aesthetics of fluctuation” that only time can bring about. The “Yusai Dial” is a phenomenal piece of art that allows you to experience the invisible richness hidden within time through the fantastical fluctuations of light and color. When this work of art is placed inside a watch case that emits the exquisite brilliance of MINASE’s world-renowned Zaratsu polishing, it goes beyond mere timing and reaches completion as a magnificent “art of time” that embodies time itself.
