About the Railway Museum The Railway Museum opened in Omiya, Saitama City on October 14, 2007, as the main project for JR East’s 20th anniversary celebrations. In July 2018, the South Wing opened, and the Main Building’s permanent exhibits were completely renovated. This renovation divided the museum into five sections: Vehicles, History, Work, Science, and Future, transforming it into a museum that unfolds the rich story of people and railways from a variety of perspectives.
