illumination will use CO2-free electricity derived from essentially renewable energy sources. This initiative is part of efforts to realize the “Umeda Vision”*, a concept formulated and announced by the Hankyu Hanshin Holdings Group to enhance the value of the Osaka Umeda area. The feathers carrying people’s Christmas wishes have become large “Wings of Prayer” and continue to shine as a symbol. Concept Final Chapter: “A World Enveloped in the Light of Wishes for the Future” The feathers of people’s Christmas wishes and wings of prayer soaring into the sky resonate with each other, transforming into even more powerful and shining wings of prayer. The powerful light shining in the vast space of the concourse serves as a guidepost of hope for the future, gently enveloping everyone. ■Object Design Kosei Komatsu (Artist)

Graduated from the Department of Architecture at Musashino Art University in 2004 and completed a graduate degree at Tokyo University of the Arts in 2006. As a member of the artist group “Atelier Omoya,” he began creating works focused on natural physical phenomena. He went independent in 2014. Beginning with an interest in “levitation,” he currently creates works focused on “lightness,” “movement,” and “light.” In addition to exhibiting his works in art museums, he also creates spatial designs for large spaces such as commercial facilities. He will be appointed as a specially appointed associate professor in the Department of Architecture at Musashino Art University in 2022. He specializes in creating art that evokes the sensation of floating or birds, using lightweight mobiles that reflect light. Approximately 7,000 of Komatsu’s own mobiles will be displayed throughout the space. He will also be taking on the challenge of creating a dazzling display of Christmas illuminations, his largest art object to date. ■Performance In sync with Christmas music playing in the concourse windows of Hankyu Umeda Main Store, the world will transition from a tranquil “white” to a dynamic “blue.” The entire concourse will be enveloped in a fantastical atmosphere, expressing “hopes for the future.” – Interlocking display with the concourse windows at Hankyu Umeda Main Store: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM *From 9:00 PM to midnight, the tranquil, calming world of “white” will continue.
