Fantastic,” the first album to debut at No. 1 on the US charts, goes on sale Friday, October 24th! Universal Music LLC (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisashi Fujikura / hereinafter, “Universal”) Music) will release a 50th anniversary edition of Elton John’s ninth studio concept album, Captain Fantastic, on Friday, October 24th.

“Captain Fantastic,” Elton John’s ninth studio concept album, released in 1975, tells the story of his meeting and friendship with his songwriting partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin. Featuring the hit single “The Prima Donna Who Saved Me,” it became the first album in history to debut at number one in the US, staying there for seven consecutive weeks. This 50th anniversary edition of “Captain Fantastic” will be released on 2CD, 2LP, and digitally. In addition to the original album 4, it includes unreleased session demos and 13 previously unreleased tracks from the 2005 30th anniversary live performance. The booklet includes a newly edited version of the “Scrapbook,” one of the two booklets included with the original release (the “Scrapbook” containing lyrics, photos, and more), as well as liner notes. On the same day (October 24th), “Live at Midsummer Music, Wembley Stadium 1975,” featuring recordings from a live performance at Wembley Stadium in 1975, will also be released on LP for the first time.
