Kiryu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Press Release: October 25, 2025 Announcement of the 18th Classic Car Festival in Kiryu This year’s special exhibition will see the first collaboration with Hino Motors – exhibiting two rare vehicles The 18th Classic Car Festival in Kiryu (sponsored by the Executive Committee) will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Kiryu Campus of Gunma University’s Faculty of Science and Technology (Tenjin-cho, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture). Participating vehicles will be classic cars from Japan and abroad produced before 1980 (Showa 55). Approximately 200 vehicles will be displayed in the “Exhibition Division,” and approximately 100 vehicles will be in the “Rally Division,” which will run around the Kiryu area from the venue. Including the vehicles of the Executive Committee, the total number of vehicles will be approximately 340, making this the largest-ever event.

The festival also attracts attention for its special exhibitions, which are always held in collaboration with automakers and museums. This year, for the first time, two rare vehicles were exhibited with the full cooperation of Hino Motors (Tokyo). The Hino Contessa 900 Sprint is said to be one of the most beautiful Japanese cars of all time, but it is a phantom vehicle that never went on sale. The Hino Renault 4CV was fully domestically produced in 1958 after a business partnership with France’s Renault led to the start of knockdown production. Both vehicles are usually on display at Hino Auto Plaza (Tokyo), so this will be a rare opportunity to see them in Kiryu.

There will also be a sightseeing tour of the city on a nostalgic bonnet bus, and a “lecture on automobiles” hosted by Gunma University, providing fun for people of all ages and genders, from car enthusiasts to families with small children.

The heartwarming sight of Kiryu residents waving small flags to see off the participating vehicles has become a familiar sight as the festival’s finale.

The “Classic Car Festival in Kiryu” is a classic car event launched in 2006 by an executive committee of classic car enthusiasts in the Kiryu area, with the aim of creating excitement in the local area and promoting automotive culture. Since its inception, the venue has been Gunma University’s Faculty of Science and Technology, and one of the event’s key features is that it is held on the university campus. Despite cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival has now been held 17 times, attracting nearly 20,000 visitors each time. Supported by participants and visitors, as well as local businesses and residents, it has become a signature autumn event in Kiryu.
