W TOKYO Co., Ltd. Press release: October 25, 2025 To Members of the Press [SDGs FES in EDOGAWA 2025] Event Report Vol. 2 – What does Yu Takahashi keep in mind when raising children? Naomi Trauden talks candidly about multicultural coexistence! In addition, this year there will be a variety of interactive booths where you can learn about the “10 SDG Edogawa Actions” while having fun in a natural setting! W TOKYO Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Noriyoshi Murakami; hereinafter referred to as W) Tokyo Girls Collection (TOKYO) and Edogawa Ward signed a partnership agreement on Friday, October 30, 2020, agreeing to collaborate and cooperate on promoting the SDGs, realizing a symbiotic society, city promotion, and more. As part of this partnership agreement, the two companies cooperated with the “SDGs Season in EDOGAWA,” which has been held in various locations in Edogawa Ward since Thursday, September 25, 2025, under the theme of “Bringing the SDGs Closer to Home.” The fifth “INTERNATIONAL SDGs FES in EDOGAWA 2025 supported by TGC” (hereinafter “SDGs FES”) was held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Kasai Rinkai Park Shiokaze Square (6-chome, Rinkai-cho, Edogawa Ward). (The fourth event, scheduled for 2024, was canceled due to bad weather.) ■A report from the talk stage show showcasing the charms of Edogawa Ward! Naomi Trauden, who serves as the Ministry of the Environment’s Sustainability Public Relations Ambassador, spoke about multicultural coexistence, sharing her own personal experiences. Yu Takahashi, mother of two, says, “I respect my children’s pace and value what they like.”

Naomi Trauden, who has expanded her activities as a commentator by proactively disseminating information on the global environment and SDGs and also serves as a Ministry of the Environment Sustainability Public Relations Ambassador, made an appearance! With “diversity” and “multicultural coexistence” attracting attention these days, she commented on the importance of understanding differences, saying, “It’s important to understand our differences, and there are differences not only between nationalities but also between Japanese people. Regarding the size of those differences, by accepting the premise that everyone is different, I think you can feel more at ease without worrying about not being the same.” She also commented on the efforts of the Edogawa Multicultural Coexistence Center, which opened in October 2024 as a support center for foreign residents of the ward, saying, “The language barrier is high, and even if you research, you may not be able to find what you’re looking for. At times like these, the existence of a safe place to turn for advice is crucial, and I feel that its attitude of not just waiting but ‘delivering’ to those in need is very meaningful.” Finally, when asked what she wants to value in the future, she delivered a powerful message: “It’s important to ‘get involved.’ You may be defensive at first, but once you start interacting with people, you start to see it as something that concerns you personally, and even sad events in faraway countries will be thought about more deeply if you have acquaintances. I believe that interacting with and learning about many people will broaden your world.”

Regarding Edogawa Ward being rated as “the best place to raise children,” Mayor Saito reiterated the appeal of Edogawa Ward, saying, “In a private survey, the image of Edogawa Ward is ‘parks,’ ‘downtown,’ and ‘raising children.’ I feel that park resources and downtown human kindness lead to a great environment for raising children in the community.” When asked what they keep in mind when raising their children, Takahashi Yu said, “By letting my children experience nature, I teach them that things like electricity and fire are not something to be taken for granted, and on the weekends I make time to experience nature by going to the park or camping. I also try to respect my children’s pace and value their ‘interests.'” Kowaki Misato shared her thoughts, sharing her own experiences, saying, “Since natural environments are limited in Tokyo, we actually use Kasai Rinkai Park privately. We also try to be conscious of ‘raising our child together’ with friends from the nursery school and local residents.” Next, when asked about the interesting measures in the “Edogawa 50 Child-rearing Plan,” which brings together 50 systems and programs by Edogawa Ward to support those who want to have and raise children, Misato Kowaki said, “I think the ‘Diaper Subscription Service’ is a great encouragement for mothers who tend to feel lonely during the newborn period, as they can simply have someone who understands them visit them. I also thought it was wonderful that the government is taking steps to support encounters and connections from the pre-natal stage.” Takahashi Yu also commented, “I thought the ‘Diaper Subscription Service’ was really helpful during the newborn period. Also, my eldest son will be in first grade next year, so I’m a little worried about hitting the ‘first grade wall,’ but I think it’s great that the ward provides a place for him to go, such as by letting him attend ‘Sukusuku School.'” Finally, Takahashi Yu concluded by saying, “I believe there are many people who are in the midst of raising children and working hard to pursue their dreams. I hope you will believe in your own feelings, be honest about what you want to do, and make your dreams come true. I also hope that mothers will take good care of themselves and their children.” The talk stage, filled with multiple positive messages about child-rearing, was met with warm applause from the audience.

Downloading the app offered limited edition novelty items. Collecting stamps in designated areas and experiencing designated booths also gave visitors a chance to receive a children’s banknote to use at the “Secondhand Clothing Market” booth.

TOKYO ■What is SDGs Season in EDOGAWA? “SDGs Season” is a period to deepen understanding of the SDGs through various actions, including the “SDGs Edogawa 10 Actions,” a collection of easy, everyday actions that contribute to the SDGs. Now in its fourth year, the season will run from Wednesday, September 25, 2024, to Monday, December 9, 2024. This year’s theme is “Bringing the SDGs Closer.” This theme reflects our desire to engage in various initiatives, including hosting participatory SDG events and promoting parasports. ■What is Tokyo Girls Collection? Held twice a year since August 2005, this event brings together top influencers such as models, talents, artists, and video creators, boasting a recognition rate of 94% and making it the largest fashion festival in history. The total number of people who experienced the event both in person and online exceeded approximately 8 million, and by combining TGC with a wide variety of partners, it has gone beyond the framework of a fashion show and developed into a branding platform that functions as a “laboratory” for content development and branding. Utilizing its communication power, it will work with the United Nations, governments, and public agencies to serve as a bridge to communicate ever-changing social issues, such as the promotion of SDGs and regional revitalization, to young people.
