Press the approval button when purchasing resources, sharing abilities with teammates, paying for the game, or when a teammate’s ability is activated.) We’ve made team esports competition a reality by leveraging smart contracts based on blockchain technology. You can experience it on the Oraga eSports platform (https://oraga-esports.com). The technique name displayed on the screen is displayed when the blockchain transaction status becomes executed. The frontend communicates with each other via GraphQL and displays the information. ■What is team esports? Digital assets on the blockchain, such as NFTs, are created using a technology called smart contracts, which can automate various logic processes. Last year, a new technological innovation occurred in the history of smart contract programming. This technology allows users to transfer some of the execution capabilities of assets such as NFTs to others. This allows for the transfer of abilities within a team, creating an environment where teams can borrow and lend some of the abilities of their blockchain-based assets, such as warrior or thief abilities, to compete in esports. ■About the Technology Used We use a blockchain developed by a legitimate blockchain application engineer who has twice sparked a global blockchain boom. Its distinctive feature is that it is a smart contract language that makes it easy to create games, business apps, etc. ■About the Blockchain Boom • The first was the Ethereum boom. It became a boom around 2017. The spark that ignited this was a game called CryptoKitties, which first to clog the Ethereum blockchain. • The second boom is the NFT boom that began in 2020. This is the developer (Dieter Shirley) of NFT (ERC-721 Non-Fungible Token), which allows users to own digital goods other than coins, such as bags and hats, on their blockchain accounts in CryptoKitties. Shirley later launched a service called NBA Top Shot on a newly developed blockchain, which turned videos of professional NBA players into NFTs, which brought NFTs to the public’s attention. View details The blockchain we have adopted can be said to be a legitimate blockchain, developed by the blockchain application engineers who sparked these two global blockchain booms. ■Compatibility with Games NFTs were developed on Ethereum as ERC-721, but despite the popularity of the CryptoKitties game on Ethereum, it has not been able to expand its player base. To address this issue, a new blockchain was created. It wasn’t until 2022, after the blockchain boom had died down, that developers were able to freely develop DApps on the blockchain. However, the developers of CryptoKitties, the first successful blockchain DApp (excluding financial apps), envisioned this blockchain as one that would make development easier for game developers. Google, AWS, and Microsoft simultaneously announced their support for the blockchain (Summer 2023), and our company is running a blockchain project on the Flow blockchain. Since development has been ongoing since 2021, we have been following developments since then. In the fall of 2024, Cadence, the blockchain language that allows smart contracts to be created on this blockchain, reached version 1.0. This marks the first time that random number generation and capabilities of resources (NFTs are a prime example) can be easily shared between accounts. What this enables is team games, where multiple players cooperate and compete against each other on the blockchain. Because it’s blockchain, game fees can be collected by payment via wallet. Combined with the inherent functionality of smart contracts, which can automatically transfer cryptocurrency to accounts, anyone can now create eSports. 【Book tracing the entire blockchain app development process at TEM is now on sale】 The concept of transferring the capabilities of blockchain smart contracts is explained as marking the beginning of a new era for blockchain. While blockchain has
traditionally focused on individual play, it will now focus on team-based play on the blockchain. Smart contracts have three characteristics: fairness, economics, and ownership. • Ensure fair access from anywhere in the world, • You can fully automate your financial flow, • You can own assets (including digital versions of trading cards). Anyone can freely program and deploy their work on the blockchain. This allows for the creation of a wide variety of apps beyond games. 1. This book first introduces a blockchain app that tracks the purchase dates of vegetables in the refrigerator. Blockchains have a block generation time, which is obtained within a smart contract and used in the app. 2. Next, we introduce an unmanned vegetable stand app that uses a deposit function. 3. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that anyone can launch a ride-sharing service based on this app by writing a smart contract with a function that allows them to send money to everyone registered on the blockchain. The third example in this book is an example of how to write a smart contract for a ride-sharing service like Uber. 4. In this fourth post, we introduce an e-sports smart contract that incorporates GraphQL, a real-time communication technology actively used by X (formerly Twitter), to enable simultaneous play around the world, along with instructions on how to build a GraphQL server. 5. Finally, as the fifth smart contract, we present a prototype implementation of a team-based eSports MMORPG that allows simultaneous global play. Smart contracts have characteristics that attract developers not only in games but in all business scenarios. They are actually easy to implement: anyone from all over the world can freely write source code, and simply deploy it to the blockchain to launch a service. There’s almost no cost involved. However, many people have the impression that it’s difficult. But that’s not the case at all. Blockchain applications are actually quite easy to develop; they can be completed in just a week. (All of the applications featured in this book were created in 2-3 weeks.) Therefore, we have begun selling a book that teaches how to develop general applications that require wallet users to press approval only when making payments, receiving resources, or transferring capabilities. Smart contracts can store non-SQL information, such as array and object information. However, it is unlikely that ordinary users would press approval in their wallets to carry out such actions; while approval using a private key is required to process updates (transactions) on the blockchain, the system can manage the private key and process the approval on behalf of the user, and we have introduced a practical development style in which ordinary users only press approval in their wallets when making payments, receiving resources, or transferring abilities. As with cryptocurrency exchanges, we predict that ordinary users will only make transactions when paying for games or transferring money, when receiving resources that can handle useful abilities and saving them in wallet storage (which is actually part of the blockchain), and when sharing abilities with multiple people, such as in team battles. 【Background to Promoting Solutions Business Using Blockchain】 • In terms of transferring abilities, in addition to being able to transfer abilities from your teammates in the game, you can also use it to use previously purchased resource abilities within the same account when creating a new wallet account. You can also prevent others from using abilities you’ve lent to them. This allows you to create a more in-depth game. • By transferring all of a wallet user’s abilities to the system, the user can activate the abilities of their teammates or their own past accounts without having to press any approval. (In the demo video, there was a restriction that required pressing the wallet confirmation button when activating the transferred ability. This does not fall into any of the three types above, so we believe that for average users (especially in MMORPGs with strict time constraints), this is an approval that they would want to avoid if possible.) All of this know-how is compiled in one book, and by simply reading this one book, you will be able to learn all about the fundamentals of blockchain. This book also makes it possible for anyone to learn how to develop an eSports x Team Battle app, even if they have no programming experience or knowledge of front-end or back-end development. We look forward to your continued support of TEM Technologies Co., LLC. By reading this book, “Let’s Write Blockchain Smart Contract Code,” you will learn TEM’s blockchain app development know-how and follow the production process from the ground up. ■Suggested retail price: ¥3,909 (excluding tax) (eBook: ¥3,909 (excluding tax)) ■URL: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B0FWZNT2L1 ■Publisher: TEM Technologies Co. It explains that going forward, team-based play hosted on blockchain will become central. 【Background for Promoting Blockchain-Based Solution Businesses】 • Regarding the capability transfer part, besides receiving a teammate’s abilities in games, it can also be used when creating a new wallet account to inherit some previously purchased resources. You can also choose not to allow its use. This enables the creation of games with greater depth. • By having the system transfer all capabilities from the wallet user, players can activate allies’ capabilities or their own past account capabilities without pressing any approvals. (In the video, there was a constraint requiring wallet approval when activating transferred capabilities.) There are three scenarios where wallet users press the approval button: • Payment • Receiving resources • Transferring capabilities We are thinking there are no other opportunities for wallet users to press the approval button. And these three cases share a common element. 1. Receiving resources that act as the player’s avatar in battles, like warriors or thieves in an MMORPG, 2. transferring part of that resource’s capabilities to teammates fighting in team battles to cooperate and win the game, 3. and paying crypto as an entry fee to participate in eSports tournaments, This concept of MMORPG x Team Battles x eSports x Global Matches can be realized via blockchain. We have decided to sell a book that makes these information publicly available, enabling easy smart contract development even without programming knowledge. This allows anyone to learn how to develop eSports x team battle apps, requiring no prior programming experience or frontend/backend knowledge. TEM will continue to explore further possibilities of blockchain and deploy solutions of a new dimension, providing multifaceted support for growth in the entertainment market.
